Pete Boucot files for seat on Linn board
By Alex Paul, Albany Democrat-Herald| Posted: Saturday, November 21, 2009 12:15 am

Pete Boucot, a Lebanon area farmer and Costco employee, will seek the position 1 seat on the Linn County Board of Commissioners in the May 18 primary.
Boucot, a Democrat, is the first to file for the position currently held by Republican John Lindsey, also of Lebanon. Lindsey is serving his third term on the board and said Friday afternoon that he plans to seek re-election.
The filing deadline is March 9.
“The county commissioners are not doing what’s in the best interest of the county,” Boucot said of his decision to seek office. “For example, the commissioners want to put an RV park on property at Seven Mile Lane using money borrowed from the road department. It’s going to put the Blue Ox and KOA RV parks out of business and has the potential to hurt the RV parks in Sweet Home as well. They have no business destroying farmland by putting in an RV park. They are making poor choices.”
In 2008, Boucot filed for the position 2 board seat held by current board Chairman Roger Nyquist.
Boucot, 43, and his wife, Jan, a retired school teacher, operate a small farm at 36456 Rock Hill Drive, near Lebanon.
He has a bachelor’s degree in political science from Oregon State University and an associate’s degree in general studies from Linn-Benton Community College. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and has management experience at Costco and with Tree Top Inc.
Boucot has been active as a loaned executive with United Way of Linn County and served on the Funds Distribution Committee. He is also involved with the Albany Civic Theater and the historic Scroggins Mill restoration project in Lebanon. He enjoys gardening and woodworking.
Boucot said he has long wanted to be involved in public service and during the 2008 campaign said, “it’s time for a breath of fresh air, some new blood and some new ideas.”
He has a website, www.votepete.com.
